Focus on Accessibility and Inclusion

Here at Nettlecombe, we constantly strive to do better. And one of those ways is by having a good look at our accessibility and inclusion and how we can improve on both.

Some of our team attended a Disability Equality course as part of our mission to become more accessible and welcoming to all which was run by Isle Access and was a brilliantly informative day, leaving us with lots to think about. We were also visited by Jan from Isle Access earlier in the year who is committed to encouraging and promoting greater accessibility and inclusion on the Island for people with disabilities as well as other individuals. And having had those conversations, Jan suggested improvements that we could make so that holidays are available to all. We understand that different guests have different needs, so we will aim to make our facilities and cottages as available as possible.

Apart from continual improvements to our accommodation, we know that the farm tours prove very popular and it’s a wonderful opportunity for our guests to get up close to the animals. We’ve found that the tours are very beneficial to those with autism or dementia, and we understand the amazing impact that animals can have on mental well-being.

Of course, not all disabilities are visible, and learning more about how we can be more inclusive to all so that everyone can enjoy a brilliant holiday is important to all of the team at Nettlecombe. But we’d also love to hear any feedback from past guests with any feedback on how we could improve what we offer even further. Please get in touch via email at enquiries@nettlecombefarm.co.uk with your thoughts.
